SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. Outlet Nike Tanjun . -- Paul Goydos shot a 3-under 67 on Saturday to take a two-stroke lead into the final round of the PGA Tour Champions season-ending Charles Schwab Cup Championship.A day after opening with a 62 for a three-stroke lead, Goydos birdied the par-5 18th to reach 11-under 129 on Desert Mountain Clubs Cochise Course.I was happy. It was a nice day, Goydos said. The wind had calmed down a little bit. It seems to be windy in the morning here and better in the afternoon. Playing goods an advantage to some extent.Colin Montgomerie, third in the Charles Schwab Cup season standings, remained second. He followed his opening 65 with a 66. The Scot matched playing partner Goydos with a closing birdie.Points leader Bernhard Langer was third at 7 under after a 66.The top five in the standings -- Richmond winner Scott McCarron is second, followed by Montgomerie, Joe Durant and Miguel Angel Jimenez -- can take the season title with a victory Sunday. Durant was tied for 15th at 1 under after a 69, McCarron was tied for 17th at even par after a 71, and Jimenez was 22nd at 1 over after a 67.The season standings were reset after the event last week in Virginia, with Langers lead over McCarron reduced from 935,657 to 200. The tournament winner will receive $440,000 and 2,000 points.I just know that theres a bunch of possibilities, like we imagined, and here we are, Langer said. I guess right now if it stands like this, Monty and I would be tied and were going to a playoff. But will it stand that way tomorrow, nobody knows. I dont know. Its certainly exciting, its volatile. You know, it comes down the stretch. The 59-year-old German has a tour-high four victories and has wrapped up the season money title with $2,836,459. He won season titles in 2010, 2014 and 2015. Hes recovering from a left knee injury that forced him to withdraw from the playoff opener at Sherwood. Its been the same for the last two weeks, just being very careful walking, Langer said. I cant read my putts properly because I cant bend down the way I used to. But my goal is to finish the tournament, not to read my putts properly. Obviously, I would love to read them right, but if that would kick me out of the tournament, thats no good, so Ive just got to do what Ive got to do.Goydos is 24th in the standings. The two-time PGA Tour winner won the Dicks Sporting Goods Open in July for his third senior title. He shot a 59 in the PGA Tours 2010 John Deere Classic.Ive gotten off to good starts and, hopefully, I can continue that tomorrow, Goydos said. A little sloppy on the back nine, quite frankly. But Im Paul Goydos, Im not Bernhard Langer, as Ive proven time after time after time after time. But I hung in there pretty good. Made a couple birdies on the 5 pars, which is nice, and looking forward to playing tomorrow. The Islanders placed the 31-year-old netminder on waivers on Tuesday in order to use a compliance buyout on the final eight years of his 15-year deal. DiPietro is still owed $36 million on the remainder of his $67.5 million deal that has an average annual value of $4.5 million. The Lewiston, Maine native only played in three games for the Islanders in 2012/13 before being placed on waivers and sent down to the American Hockey Leagues Bridgeport Sound Tigers. The deal is the longest in NHL history, at the time surpassing the 10-year $87.5 million deal the Islanders gave to forward Alexei Yashin in 2001. The contract was set to expire after the 2020/21 season. ' ' '

COLUMBIA, Mo. Nike Sb Shoes Sale Online . -- Missouri coach Barry Odom considers his role to be that of a teacher. He is still learning things in his inaugural season at the helm of his alma mater.Saturdays game against Kentucky will be his latest test. The Tigers (2-5, 0-3 Southeastern Conference) have dramatically improved their offense from a year ago, when they finished second to last in the nation in offensive efficiency. Missouri leads the SEC in yards per game with 505, but that has not always led to wins. Last week, Missouri lost its homecoming game 51-45 to Middle Tennessee, surrendering 584 yards, including 300 on the ground. The Tigers also piled up penalties that allowed MTSU to extend multiple drives.Odom is reevaluating his level of involvement with all sides of the ball, including his area of expertise -- defense.Ive got an opportunity to go help that side out and Im going to do it, Odom said. Ive been trying to balance both sides along with some of the other things and I need to spend my focus there.Odom was Missouris defensive coordinator last season, and discussed the fine line between aiding and interfering. If theres a call I really dont like, or I dont think its the right tine or fit for it, Ill say something, Odom said. But also, as a head coach, I recall being a coordinator not that long ago and I want those guys to feel comfortable doing their work too, not overlooking all the time, `Whats the head coach thinking?Kentucky (4-3, 3-2) will look to capitalize on Missouris recent struggles. The Wildcats seek their third consecutive SEC victory after defeating Vanderbilt 20-13 on Oct. 8 and Mississippi State 40-38 last Saturday. It would be the first three-game conference win streak for the Wildcats since 1999.They put a lot of stress on you, Kentucky coach Mark Stoops said of Missouris offense. They go extremely fast and theyve got some very dynamic players, so its going to be a real challenge. Here are some things to watch Saturday:INJURY BUGMissouri has been hit with a string of injuries, four of which occurred in the loss to Middle Tennessee. Linebacker Michael Scherer tore the ACL and MCL in his left knee, effectively ending his college career with five games to play. Additionally, Terry Beckner Jr. tore his ACL in his left knee after the same injury to his right knee cut his 2015 season short. Scherer led Missouri with 53 tackles in seven starts. Beckner had 24 tackles, including two for loss, three quarterback hurries and a fumble recovery.Everybody in America is banged up at this point, Odom said. Its week seven or eight or nine for some. Thats the game. Youve got to have your next guys ready to go play.MAKING STRIDESWith a win Saturday, Kentucky would secure its fourth conference win, something it hasnt accomplished since 2006 under Rich Brooks. Additionally, the Wildcats have won their last three home games, something they last accomplished in 1996.I was proud of our team this past week in finding a way to win and showing some toughness and some resiliency against Mississippi State, but theres a lot of things that we can do better, Stoops said.FOUNTAIN OF YOUTHMissouri has just 16 seniors on its roster, including Scherer, while Kentucky has 11, the fewest in the nation. Missouri senior cornerback John Gibson was also injured against Middle Tennessee, and is still not a guarantee for Saturday. It does present a real challenge, Stoops said of his lack of seniors. Youre starting to see our team grow up a little bit. We wouldnt have been able to win some close games and some tough games without their leadership. Nike Sb Shoes Discount . Toronto has dropped games to Indiana and Miami since a five-game winning streak and closed out a three-game road trip at 1-2. San Diego Chargers running back Melvin Gordon is not expected to play Sunday against the Oakland Raiders, but there remains a chance he will play again this season, a source told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter. An MRI revealed Monday that Gordon suffered a hip strain and left knee sprain when he tried to recover a fumble and was hit in the back by Carolina Panthers?linebacker?Thomas Davis.Gordon had microfracture surgery on the same knee in January.Gordon is 3 rushing yards short of his first 1,000-yard season. Coach Mike McCoy, who described Gordon as day-to-day Monday, said the running backs pursuit of the milestone wont play a role in the teams decision to put him on the field in the final weeks of the season. Were not going to throw him out there so he can get a couple yards so he can say he got a thoussand yards, McCoy said. Nike Sb Shoes For Sale Cheap. And he doesnt want that, either. Im going to make sure that hes ready to go and be Melvin when he gets back on the field. Thats the most important thing. The Chargers (5-8) play twice more -- at Cleveland and versus Kansas City -- after the Raiders game. Its very important just because I know the guys need me out there and I want to be out there, said Gordon this week, when asked about the importance of returning this season. We started together and I want to finish it. Weve lost so many guys, so just losing me doesnt help the energy around here. So Im going to try and do what I can to get back.ESPNs Eric D. Thierry Henry has called on Arsenals supporting cast to chip in with goals if Arsene Wengers side are to win the title this season. Cheap Jordan Retro Shoes For Sale . The Gunners lost ground on both Leicester and Tottenham in the title race at the weekend as they slipped to a 3-2 defeat at Manchester United and Henry feels they have become too reliant on a small number of players to score goals.Asked about Theo Walcotts contribution so far this season, the Gunners legend admitted that the England forward should have done more but argued that others needed to step up when he was out of form. Olivier Giroud and Theo Walcott have struggled for goals recently Theo should have done better, we all agree on that and especially this season, Henry told Sky Sports News HQ.Olivier [Giroud] has been scoring a lot of goals and at the moment is not scoring, Alexis Sanchez has been suffering a bit. What happened to the other part of the team? Leonardo Ulloas late goal could have a huge impact on the title race Who was scoring goals when Dwight Yorke and Andy Cole were not scoring? Who was scoring goals when [Sergio] Aguero was not scoring? [Carlos] Tevez, Edin Dzeko. Who was scoring goals at Arsenal when I was having a [barren] run? Sylvain Wiltord. And I can go through teams that won the title like that.Henry stressed the importance of key players performing on a regular basis but pointed to the Leicester and Spurs goalscorers in their wins at the weekend as an example of what Arsenal need when they fail to do so. Danny Rose celebrates after scoring for Tottenham Now, and Im not trying to find any excuses like that because your usual suspects need and have to perform, Henry added. But what is happening when they are not scoring? Who is going is going to come from the bench and change the game?[Leonardo] Ulloa did it at the weekend for Leicester. The Way-Too-Early Top 25 rankings for next season in college basketball have been updated, and now that rosters are beginning to crystallize, its time to get familiar with each team. Weve already touched on each teams defining song and an alternate profession for each coach. Now its time to look between the lines. If the clock is winding down in a close game, which player is taking the last shot?1. Duke Blue Devils: Grayson Allen Why is Duke is 2016-17s overwhelming favorite? Here you go. Its easy to be distracted by Dukes newly arriving battalion of future NBA lottery picks, so much so that you can forget theyre joining up with probably college basketballs best pure scorer from last season, and one whose clutch gene was activated mid-title game in 2015. Its ... terrifying. -- Eamonn Brennan2. Villanova Wildcats: Kris Jenkins This one isnt hard: How about the guy who sank the biggest shot of the 2015-16 campaign? The 6-foot-6 senior took the pass from Ryan Arcidiacono and buried one of the most memorable shots in NCAA tournament history to beat North Carolina and win the national title. Jenkins track record makes him the obvious choice. -- Jeff Goodman3. Kentucky Wildcats: Malik Monk Most teams wouldnt hand the ball to a freshman before he has ever played a game in college. UK isnt most programs, though. In back-to-back games while at Bentonville (Ark.) High School, Monk made consecutive buzzer-beating 3-pointers. Both came while he was double-teamed; he even had to double-clutch on one. Hes likely to do it again in the clutch at the next level. -- C.L. Brown4. Kansas Jayhawks: Frank Mason III It is oh-so-very tempting to go with freshman?Josh Jackson?here. The No. 2 player in his class, Jackson is scary good and wildly mature beyond his years. But it is hard to trump a senior?who has started 74 games in the past two years and has a better handle on the college game. Mason could also pass the ball to Jackson, but with the game on the line, Id always err on the side of experience. -- Dana ONeil5. Virginia Cavaliers: London Perrantes In recent years, Malcolm Brogdon was the obvious choice for a Virginia team that enjoyed elite status with the former star on the roster. But hes gone now, so Perrantes would get the call to take the last shot for coach Tony Bennett. He made 48.7 percent of his 3-pointers last season, the sixth-best mark in America. He also connected on 80 percent of his free throw attempts. So its safe to put the ball in his hands with the game on the line. -- Myron Medcalf6. North Carolina Tar Heels: Joel Berry II Last January, as Marcus Paige suffered through a baffling midseason shooting slump, coach Roy Williams said hed never had a player that [hes] had more confidence in, in my entire life than Paige. That trust was well-earned, and it wont be replicated anytime soon. From a pure skill standpoint, though, Berrys mix of perimeter shooting and first-step ballhandling makes him the most reliable candidate to hoist the big shots that would have fallen to Paige. -- Brennan7. Oregon Ducks: Dillon Brooks Brooks might not be the best athlete on the team, but hes the Ducks top player. Hes all about reliability, isnt afraid of the moment and can score in a multitude of ways; he can shoot it from deep if necessary, but hes also able to convert from midrange and around the basket. His versatility and IQ would enable him to get a high-percentage look. -- Goodman8. Wisconsin Badgers: Bronson Koenig Taking the last shot is easier if youve done it before, and Koenig has the confidence he needs after delivering for the Badgers in the NCAA tournament last season. He was falling out of bounds into their bench but still managed to beat Xavier at the buzzer. He also turned it over with three seconds left in their Sweet 16 loss to Notre Dame. Hell be better this season because of both situations. -- Brown9. Xavier Musketeers: Edmond Sumner The Musketeers are fortunate to have two very good choices in Sumner and Trevon Bluiett, the teams leading scorer last season. But the wiry and wily Sumner, coming off a sensational freshman year, has a great nose for the basket. Hes also due. It was Sumner, after all, who was called for a charge with 4.3 seconds left in a tied second-round NCAA tournament game against Wisconsin, setting up Koenigs 3-point buzzer-beating heroics. -- ONeil10. Michigan State Spartans: Eron Harris After watching Denzel Valentine hit the game-winner in Monday nights NBA Summer League title game, Michigan State fans probably wish they had another year with last seasons Associated Press National Player of the Year. But hes gone, so coach Tom Izzo will probably put the ball in Harris hands in clutch situations. The pros? He made 44 percent of his 3-pointers and 80 percent of his free throw attempts last season. The cons? Harris often wrestled with lengthy stretches of inconsistency. Still, hes a significant veteran on a team that will rely on young talent after losing key seniors. His team will turn to him in the final seconds. -- Medcalf11. Indiana Hoosiers: James Blackmon Jr. One of the most impressive aspects of Indianas success last season was that it came with Blackmon, Jr. spending most of the season on the bench because of injury. Blackmon, who has averaged 15.8 points and shot 42.5 percent from 3 in his 46-game career, is a smooth offensive talent, a knockdown shooter who can create his own looks to boot. With Yogi Ferrell gone, expect the ball in Blackmons hands early and often in 2016-17. -- Brennan12. Arizona Wildcats: Allonzo Trier The sophomore guard is a prolific scorer who wants the ball with the game on the line. He can drill it from deep, but hes also able to get to the rim and score through contact. Most of all, though, his mental toughness would enable him to hit the game winner with all the pressure that comes with taking it. -- Goodman13. Louisville Cardinals: Donovan Mitchell This might come as a surprise because Mitchell isnt the best shooter or scorer on the team; he shot just 25 percent from 3-point range and averaged just 7. Cheap Jordans Shoes For Sale. points per game as a freshman. But he plays without fear. That, more than anything, is how the guy taking the last shot needs to play. Hell go to the rim without worrying about contact, and his athleticism will allow him to get creative if he needs to adjust. -- Brown14. Purdue Boilermakers: Vince EdwardsWith a bevy of big men, its sometimes hard to tell the Purdue forest from the trees. Edwards stands out in this role. A 6-foot-8 forward, he can score down low and knocks down 3-pointers at a 41 percent clip. He also can drive to the rim and sink free throws steadily. That makes him a dangerous option in an end-of-game situation. -- ONeil15. West Virginia Mountaineers: Daxter Miles Jr. Its hard to identify one player on a roster full of hot-today-cold-tomorrow threats. The same team that edged Oklahoma in the Big 12 tournament semifinals fell apart in losses to Kansas in the championship game and Stephen F. Austin in the opening round of the NCAA tournament. Miles made 63 percent of his shots at the rim last season, according to hoop-math.com. Plus, he can create shots (57 percent clip inside the arc), and hes willing to attack when the Mountaineers need a bucket. -- Medcalf16. Gonzaga Bulldogs: Przemek Karnowski Departed senior Kyle Wiltjer was more or less unstoppable on every possession (so long as Syracuse forward Tyler Lydon wasnt on the floor, anyway); Gonzaga doesnt have a player like that anymore. The good news? Before his back injury, Karnowski had developed into an efficient deep-post scorer and a deft passer out of double teams. Thats a good recipe for an open look, no matter the time or score. -- Brennan17. UCLA Bruins: Bryce Alford This is a tough one. Theres Aaron Holiday, Isaac Hamilton and Bryce Alford. Freshman Lonzo Balls best asset is his passing, but he can shoot it from deep as well. Despite the fact that you never know what youre going to get with him, Im going with Alford because of this. With Russell Westbrook in attendance, the coachs kid drilled a 3-pointer with 1.8 seconds left to knock off rival Arizona at Pauley Pavilion. Thats clutch.?-- Goodman18. Maryland Terrapins: Melo Trimble A junior guard, Trimble suffered through a shooting slump to close out last season, but he has developed a knack for making the big shot when it counts. Need a reminder? Check the game-winning 3-pointer he made at Wisconsin in January. The tricky part about defending Trimble late is he doesnt always have to shoot it. Hes quick enough to break down defenders, get to the rim and dish it for the game-winning assist. -- Brown19. Saint Marys Gaels: Emmett Naar Oh, to be Randy Bennett, the coach of a team where everybody can shoot. It makes that last-second nail-biter a lot less tense, doesnt it? Naar, however, is the best of the bunch. Hes not only the Gaels leading scorer, hes their best 3-point shooting threat, at 42 percent. Naar also shares the record for single-season assists in Saint Marys history. If he cant shoot it hell give it to one of his teammates who can. -- ONeil20. Creighton Bluejays: Marcus Foster Creighton has options, but Foster is coach Greg McDermotts best one with the game on the line. A former Kansas State star, he roared into the Big 12 with a remarkable freshman campaign in 2013-14 and followed that with a solid showing in his sophomore season. But off-court issues marred that second season and preceded his decision to transfer. He enters 2016-17 as a strong candidate for all-Big East honors. A 6-foot-3 wing, Foster wont shrink in big moments. Thats why McDermott will give him the ball often in the last five minutes of any game. -- Medcalf21. Rhode Island Rams: E.C. Matthews Matthews stat-sheet-stuffing sophomore year didnt always come at the most efficient clip, due in large part to a 22.3 percent turnover rate (32 percent shooting from beyond the arc didnt help, either). That team was far less talented than the one Matthews, having sat out 2015-16 because of injury, will return to this year. He shouldnt need to take 31 percent of his teams shots these days, like he did then, and hes likely to be even more effective as a result. -- Brennan22. Cincinnati Bearcats: Jacob Evans The 6-foot-6 sophomore shot 33 percent from 3-point range last season, and hes more than a one-dimensional guy who hoists shots from deep. He has the size to shoot over defenders and the ability to put the ball on the floor. Look for him to be a key player this year for coach Mick Cronin because of his ability to put the ball in the basket. -- Goodman23. Florida State Seminoles: Xavier Rathan-Mayes Rathan-Mayes took a step back offensively last season to let Dwayne Bacon and Malik Beasley shine for the Seminoles. But he is still the one who deserves the last shot when the game is on the line. A junior guard, Rathan-Mayes has four career 30-point games. He can get his shot off whenever he needs to, and he has deep range to make defenders respect him as soon as he crosses midcourt. -- Brown24.Connecticut Huskies: Jalen Adams Seriously? You need to ask? Adams already hit a ridiculous last-second heave from beyond halfcourt in the 55th minute of a game against Cincinnati that the Huskies absolutely needed to win to get to the NCAA tournament. Who else might you suggest for the job? -- ONeil25. Syracuse Orange: Tyus Battle Few teams in the top 25 lost more than Syracuse after last years surprising run to the Final Four. Malachi Richardson cashed in on his rising stock and earned a first-round slot in Junes NBA draft. Michael Gbinije and Trevor Cooney are both gone. So Battle, No. 35 in the Class of 2016, should play a major role for coach Jim Boeheim. A 6-foot-5 wing, he has a blossoming midrange game and the versatility to make an impact from the perimeter or the post. He could turn out to be the squads most reliable threat in the final seconds. -- Medcalf ' ' '

TORONTO -- As the local Toronto media assembled around Steven Stamkos?Monday to bookend, once and for all, his offseason decision to stay in Tampa Bay and not to come and play for his hometown Maple Leafs, the real question mark for Stamkos team this season sat a few stalls down. The subject of this uncertainty wont generate nearly as many fireworks, nor fuel nearly as much season-long drama as last year, when the face of the franchise took until the 11th hour to decide that he was staying put in Tampa Bay. But it is nevertheless a major unresolved decision for the?Tampa Bay Lightning?organization. The difference this time around is that its not about a player making up his mind as much as it is?Ben Bishop waiting to find out from the Lightning what his future entails. The 29-year-old netminder got a clue at the NHL draft last June when a potential trade with the?Calgary Flames?fell through because he couldnt come to terms on a contract extension with the Flames (a stipulation his camp made, given that he had a no-move clause). Instead, the Flames traded for Brian Elliott, and Bishop, who is in the final year of his deal (at $5.95 million), remained with the Lightning. Its a bit awkward, perhaps, but its part of the business. Its one of those things that could have happened, but it fell through, Bishop said Monday, shrugging, when asked about the potential trade to Calgary. Being around long enough, you realize that sometimes there are going to be business decisions made. And if they dont work, they dont work, and theres nothing you can really do about it. You cant sit there and sulk or worry about it. You have to just go out there and keep playing. Im pretty fortunate to have a job with Tampa. Its a great team and a great place to play. So Im pretty happy about everything going on.Theres no question that the team showed its hand ahead of next Junes expansion draft before the new Las Vegas team enters the league, when clubs will only be able to protect one goalie -- not only in the attempted trade with Calgary, but also when it signed 22-year-old Andrei Vasilevskiy to a three-year, $10.5 million contract extension this past offseason. So what now?Lightning general manager?Steve Yzerman?has?the following options regarding Bishop, who will be a pending unrestricted free agent next summer:1) If a team makes a good enough offer ahead of the March 1 trade deadline, take the asset(s) it nets.2) Keep Bishop for the rest of the season for another, all-hands-on-deck run at the Stanley Cup. If he walks away for nothing in free agency, so be it. The cap space the Lightning would earn next July would still be valuable considering that?Tyler Johnson, Ondrej Palat and Jonathan Drouin all will need new deals.3) If Bishop plays out of his mind en route to a Conn Smythe Trophy and Stanley Cup championship, maybe the Lightning will try sign him after all.Yzerman met with Bishop in September. While Bishop on Monday said the content of that conversation will remain private, I suspect the message from Yzerman was that the Lightning still value very much what Bishop brings to the table and that while the GM cant give him any definite answers on how this is all going to play out, the only thing the veteran goalie can do is play his guts out and let the chips fall where they may.dddddddddddd Which is exactly what Bishop intends to do.As far as Im concerned, every door is still open, Bishop said. You have a great year, and you never know what can happen. Im not really thinking its going to happen just that way (getting traded). It could happen a couple of different ways.In the meantime, the Lightning will benefit from having both goalies for one more year -- particularly this season, which features a compressed schedule because of Septembers World Cup of Hockey and the new five-day bye week each team will get in the second half. Just like the Pittsburgh Penguins see value in keeping both Marc-Andre Fleury and Matt Murray for one more season before they have to make a decision about them ahead of the expansion draft, having two No. 1 goalies during stretches when teams must play three games in four nights and/or five games in eight days will be a luxury. While other NHL teams will be forced to play true backup netminders more because of the compressed schedule, the Penguins and Lightning can roll out a No. 1 goalie every night. You look what happened in L.A., [with]?Jonathan Quick getting hurt, Lightning coach Jon Cooper said Monday. Freak things like that happen. You need to have depth at all positions. I dont know if theres a more important position in sports, aside from the quarterback in football, than the goaltending position. So to have depth in that area like we do, you cherish it as long as you can.Now its up to the coach to figure out how to dole out those starts to two guys who want the net. Cooper was quoted recently suggesting something of a 50-30 games split between Bishop and the younger Vasilevsky. The one thing is, you got to get Vasilevsky more games [than last season]. Its whats best for our team and whats best for him, said Cooper. But you have to keep Bish engaged too, because hes a two-time Vezina finalist the last three years and hes a big reason we are where we are today. So theres a balance. But if you really think about it, you start getting into the crux of the season, youre playing 3-4 games a week, guys are getting in. I just want to find a way to have both guys play every week. Its my job to find a way to get them in, and thats whats going to happen. The best part of it all is that the two goalies have a terrific relationship by all accounts, the veteran serving as a mentor to the youngster.Hes a young kid, hes still kind of learning the ways, said Bishop. Im happy to help him. I think hes going to be a star in this league. His pupil clearly appreciates Bishops guidance. Im just watching him almost every day, practice days, game days, said Vasilevskiy. I just watch how he prepares before games, and how he recovers after the game. Hes just so professional. The future for both of them? Thats for another day.I dont think about it, said Vasilevskiy. Were just doing our jobs. Were just helping our team get points and win a Stanley Cup. Were good friends. We dont think about what might happen. ' ' '
ST. Cheap Jerseys From China . PETERSBURG, Florida - The business of baseball is raw. It is unemotional. It creates space for feel good stories, some with lengthy enough time spans to reel in a fan base, but if the subject of said narrative doesnt fit with the broader plan he will find himself back on the outside. Todays subject: Munenori Kawasaki, who is packing his bags for a flight to Atlanta and a drive to nearby Lawrenceville. There, he will meet his Buffalo teammates, the Bisons, in the midst of a series against the Braves Triple-A affiliate in Gwinnett County, Georgia. Its the business of baseball. Jose Reyes is ready to return. Kawasaki has options, meaning he can be demoted without passing through waivers. Its the obvious move and the right move. Its also a bold move; surely general manager Alex Anthopoulos knows many Blue Jays fans wont be happy. Neither are Kawasakis teammates. Not to say they disagree with the decision. Its just that Kawasaki left a unique impression. "This is the part of the game that sucks," said Mark Buehrle. "Between the fans and the guys in here I think everybodys fallen in love with this guy. Come up here and done everything everybodys asked for him to do and probably plus more. This is the part, I think every guy in baseball, not what you do on the field but the business side of it, thats what sucks about it." Buehrle went on to add, "I love the guy." Buehrles sentiment is the majority view in the clubhouse. Kawasaki commanded a large presence, one which belied his relatively diminutive stature. He mingled in broken English with those who speak English. He spoke in broken Spanish with the clubs Latin contingent. On the field, Kawasaki will be remembered for his two out, two-run, game-winning double which capped a four-run ninth inning in a 6-5 win over Baltimore on May 26. Weeks later, on June 21, Kawasaki would hit an improbable two-run home run in the seventh to pull the Blue Jays into a 6-6 tie with those same Orioles. Toronto would win the game 7-6 and climb to .500 for the first time this season. Manager John Gibbons, his finger on the pulse of his team, knew this was a delicate situation. He called an impromptu, brief team meeting after Tuesday nights 5-1 loss to the Rays to inform the players of the roster move. Thats atypical. "Its tough to do," said Gibbons. "But the way it sets up, you know we want to keep our pitching intact. In that spot he wouldnt be playing much at all but its tough. You feel for the kid, he did a tremendous job for us, but hell be back." Truth is Anthopoulos had few alternatives. Reliever Juan Perez, 34, is out of options. Were he to be designated for assignment, he assuredly would have been claimed on waivers. Perez has been effective, has experience and is making the major league minimum salary. Its unlikely, due to the money hes owed, Dustin McGowan would have been scooped up had he been waived but, because of service time, McGowan has the right to refuse an assignment to the minor leagues. Given he can still throw a fastball 95 miles per hour after multiple shoulder surgeries, the Jays are eager to see if McGowans a salvageable asset. Neil Wagner was a non-starter. Hes now a fixture in Gibbons bullpen. Its a credit to Kawasaki that on the day of Reyes return to the Blue Jays, an important moment in this rollercoaster of a season, its his demotion that has people talking. Upon learning of the move, Kawasaki addressed the media with a message for his fans. There was nothing broken about the English. "I love you guys," Kawasaki said. The feeling is mutual. SAN FRANCISCO -- Miami manager Mike Redmond got immediate results from his decision to put Justin Ruggiano in the leadoff spot. Ruggiano started the game with a home run in his third career start in the leadoff spot and added a two-run shot in the ninth that broke it open for the Marlins, who beat the Giants 7-2 Sunday for their 10th win in their last 11 games in San Francisco. "This guys got a lot of power," Redmond said. "We talked about our offence and trying to get guys in situations. We just led him off in hopes hed put together some good at-bats and it happened, he hit a couple of big home runs. It was great. He had a great day and was a huge part of the win today." Nathan Eovaldi (1-0) held the Giants in check into the seventh inning and Marcell Ozuna hit an RBI double and solo homer as the Marlins bested Matt Cain (5-4) and a struggling San Francisco bullpen to wrap up their first winning road trip of the season. The Marlins went 4-3 in Arizona and San Francisco after taking two of three at home against St. Louis as they try to put a rough 16-44 start to the season in the past. "Awesome road trip," Ruggiano said. "We played some tough teams. To come out with a winning record, first time this year, you can see things turn around a little bit. Its exciting to come to the ballpark. Were having fun." The defending World Series champion Giants dropped three of four at home to the team with the worst record in the National League, scoring just eight runs in the four games. The Giants went 3-4 on the homestand that started with three games against San Diego, marking their first losing homestand since going 3-7 from July 23-Aug. 2 last summer. San Fracisco had won or split the last 10 homestands. "You can try to make excuses but really we didnt get the job done," Cain said. "We didnt get some guys in when we needed to and we didnt throw the ball like we needed to. We had some games where we had the lead and we didnt finish it off. You have to kind of just say its over with and move on now." The Giants did end a 90-inning home run drought when Hunter Pence led off the seventh against Eovaldi with a drive over the left field fence for his 12th of the season to cut Miamis led to 3-2. It was San Franciscos first homer since a leadoff shot by Gregor Blanco on June 14 in Atlanta. The eight homerless games coincided with an injury to third baseman Pablo Sandoval, who has been out since June 8 with a left foot strain. Sandoval homered the past two ddays on a rehab assignment with Class A San Jose and will be activated Monday for the series opener in Los Angeles. Wholesale NFL Jerseys China. "We need a lift right now," manager Bruce Bochy said. "Hes a big bat, presence in the lineup. Hopefully hell take a little pressure off the other guys trying to do too much. Any time youre missing a guy thats hitting in the heart of the order it does make it a little tougher. Hopefully he will spark this lineup." But Sandoval could only watch against Eovaldi and the Marlins. Eovaldi allowed just two hits in the first five innings -- a line drive that went in and out of the glove of sliding right fielder Giancarlo Stanton in the first inning and an infield hit between the pitchers mound and first base by Blanco in the fourth. Eovaldi was finally touched for a run in the sixth when pinch-hitter Tony Abreu tripled and scored on a groundout by Marco Scutaro. Eovaldis day ended when he walked Brandon Belt following Pences homer in the seventh. He allowed two runs and four hits in six-plus innings. Ryan Webb preserved the lead when he got pinch-hitter Joaquin Arias to hit into a 1-6-3 double play with runners on first and third to end the seventh. "Its really just a reaction play," Webb said. "As soon as I caught it, I just made sure I had the grip on it. Thankfully we were able to turn it." Chad Qualls pitched a scoreless eighth with help. Scutaro made the second out at second base when he tried to advance after Stanton threw to third following a single. The Marlins broke the game open with a four-run ninth against Jean Machi that featured homers by Ozuna and Ruggiano. It was Ruggianos second career multihomer game. Cain pitched fairly well after the leadoff homer by Ruggiano on the second pitch of the game. Cain struck out eight batters and walked none in six innings. The Marlins scored single runs in the fourth on an RBI double by Ozuna and sixth when first baseman Belt couldnt handle a hot shot by Logan Morrison for a run-scoring error that made it 3-0.                                       LOS ANGELES -- Jimmy Butler called his shot before Sundays 118-110 win over the Los Angeles Lakers. Air Jordan Clearance . The Chicago Bulls All-Star swingman knew he would have to score more on Sunday with the Bulls playing without Dwyane Wade, who was sitting out the game to rest on the second night of a back-to-back.So Butler, who is averaging 24.0 points per game this season, told his head coach, Fred Hoiberg, that he would take matters into his own hands as the Bulls tried to bounce back from a tough loss to the Los Angeles Clippers on Saturday night. He told me before the game, Coach, Im going for 40 tonight, Hoiberg said. And he did it.Butler finished the game with a season-high 40 points, going 14-for-23 from the field and 12-for-14 from the foul line. He also added seven rebounds and six assists in 40 minutes. In a month full of dominating performances, Butler saved his best game of the short season when his team needed it most.He is playing with a tremendous amount of confidence, and thats where it starts, Hoiberg said. If you believe you can do it, thats a pretty good place to start. Jimmy thinks every time he steps on the floor hes the best player out there, and more often than not hes right. Thats a big thing is the confidence and the belief in yourself, and he definitely has that.Butler doesnt want to acknowledge publicly that he feels he is the leagues best player, but that is the mindset he has taken with him on the floor over the past few weeks. He has scored at least 20 points in eight straight games.I think thats the way I have to think, Butler said. If I dont, then I look at it as being just another player thats out there. My teammates tell me to play like that, to think like that, but at the same time even though D-Wades out, hes still helping me through this process and letting me know what I should be doing. Late in the game, early in the game, its great to have him in my corner. As for his prediction before the game, Butler playfully smiled after being told of Hoibergs words.Butlers performance without Wade is even more impressive when compared to LeBron James numbers while playing without the future Hall of Famer. As ESPN Stats & Information points out: In 55 games LeBron played without Wade, he scored 40 three times. James didnt do it until his 14th game without Wade. Butler did it his first time out.I just felt like thats what my team was going to need from me to tell you the truth, Butler said. For me to be aggressive, to put the ball in the basket, with our second-leading scorer out, I knew I had to pick up the pace a little bit. So that was my mindset. Play defense as well but go out and put the ball in the hole.Butlers teammates figured that the 27-year-old was ready to have a big game. Before the game, before the ball jumped up, he came to me [and] just said, Come on, lets get it done, Bulls forward Taj Gibson said. I saw it in his eyes, the desperation and understanding that we got to win this game. This is a big game for us, especially on a back-to-back after losing a tough one which we thought we should have won [Saturday] night, so I saw it in his eyes. He was intense, [Rajon] Rondo was intense, but hes just showing more leadership day by day.The Bulls are now 3-1 on their annual Circus Trip and play the Denver Nuggets on Tuesday night. Wholesale Nike Tanjun Shoes .James Blackmon, Jr. scored 22 of his 26 points after halftime to lift No. 11 Indiana to a season-opening 103-99 overtime victory over No. 3 Kansas on Friday night in the Armed Forces Classic.I told someone before the game that this feels like March in here and thats how it played out, Crean said.It was a thrilling finish to a back-and-forth contest. Kansas tied at 87 on Frank Mason IIIs layup with 39 seconds left. Blackmon reclaimed a brief lead for Indiana with two free throws with 13 seconds remaining. However, Mason answered with two more free throws with 2 seconds to play in regulation.Indiana had a chance win to win it at the buzzer, but Tyler Selfs desperation shot from three-quarters court length was no good and sent the teams into overtime. The Hoosiers never trailed in overtime. Blackmon scored seven points in the period, including a step-back 3-pointer from the right wing that gave Indiana a 97-93 lead. He scored his teams final four points, including a thunderous dunk in the closing seconds.Crean, Indianas ninth-year coach had high praise for Blackmon, a junior guard who had knee surgery in January to cut short his sophomore season.Im just proud of him beyond belief; I couldnt be any prouder of him, Crean said. To come back and play the way he did on both ends of the court after overcoming everything that he has is great for him.The Hoosiers had five players score in double figures with Thomas Bryant notching a double-double with 19 points and 10 rebounds. Curtis Jones had 15 points, OG Anunoby had 13 and Robert Johnson added 10.Indiana trailed by as many as nine points, but shot 50 percent (14 of 28) in the second half.Blackmon was 4 of 8 from behind the 3-point line and the Hoosiers were 15 of 31 from beyond the arc. Juwan Morgan had 10 rebounds for the Hoosiers.Mason led the Jayhawks with 30 points and nine assists.Devonte Graham scored 16 points, while Carlton Bragg, Jr. and Svi Mykhailiuk chipped in 12 apiece and Landen Lucas added 11 for Kansas. We didnt play well, but give (Indiana) credit, Kansas coach Bill Self said. Their guards really got in the lane when they wanted to and then we had to play out of foul trouble and then we had to play small too often. We competed hard down the stretch, but physically they just beat us on the glass and that was the difference in the game -- and they made shots. They made hard shots at the end of the clock.Seven players fouled out of the game, four of them Jayhawks. We played like it was our first game, Self said. We put ourselves in a situation to have the game come down to the end and we made some plays to get it to overtime and in overtime we lost all our guys and certainly it was hard to overcome that. The teams combined to make 56 of 74 free throws. Kansas was 30 of 38 from the line, while Indiana made 26 of 36.There were 16 ties and 17 lead changes in the game.Kansas opened the season away from Allen Fieldhouse for the first time since 2001, when it lost to Ball State 93-91 in the opening round of the Maui Invitational. It was the 14th meeting between the teams and first since 1995, when Kansas beat Indiana 91-83.The Hoosiers lead the all-time series 8-6.BIG PICTUREKansas: One statistical category it held the edge in was turnovers, where it committed just 11 to Indianas 18. The Jayhawks also excelled in points off turnovers, 18-11.Indiana: Bryant, a third-team All-Big Ten center as a freshman last season, fouled out with 52 seconds left in regulation. The Hoosiers were able to persevere, a good sign for a relatively young squad.POLL IMPLICATIONSKansas will likely fall at least a few spots in the Top 25, but will have a chance to rebound with a showdown against top-ranked Duke Tuesday. The win should boost Indiana into the top 10 nationally.SALUTE THE TROOPSThis is the fifth consecutive year of the Armed Forces Classic, which has been held at different venues around the world with a heavy presence of American military personnel. Sydney coach John Longmire views Fridays crucial clash with Geelong as a great opportunity for his AFL club and a rallying call behind milestone man and embattled co-captain Kieren Jack. Both sides will be striving to avoid back-to-back losses, which would represent a severe setback with the top half of the ladder being so congested.Midfielder Jack will play his 200th game on Friday, though that milestone has been somewhat overshadowed by a family feud.Longmire said Jack was fine and would be focused on the game.Theres no point getting that milestone if you dont celebrate it the right way and play a good strong brand of footy, Longmire said on Thursday.Thats what it gets down to and thats what Im sure the players will be looking forward to.Taking on Geelong at Geelong for Kierens 200th is a great opportunity for us.Longmire tasted victory at Geelong in his first year as the Swans senior coach back in 2011 when Sydney ended the Cats 29-game winning streak at their fortress. But Sydneys last three visits have all resulted in losses of more than 30 points.Geelong have won their last eight matches at Simonds Stadium.Geelong in Geelong is a great challenge, most teams find it very difficult andd we look forward to that challenge, Longmire said.
